Cisco phone on wrong VLAN

Hello

I am asking this for my own learning. I have several phones on the wrong VLAN. I will be tracing back the cables to make sure they are plugged into the correct switch.

The issue with one of the phones that led to this discovery, the phone will occasionally not hang up a call on hold. The user can not put a call on hold then resume. The phone will not take any changes either since it has an error that states no Tftp server and the download status is failed.

What other issues would a user experience with the wrong VLAN? If it is too many or random I understand  Just trying to build my knowledge

Thank you in advance for your time.

Jen

If these are Cisco phones plugged into a Cisco switch, then the switch is usually configured to tell the phone which VLAN it is to use (with "switchport voice vlan xxx").
