Cisco Phones 802.1x PC Port document clarification

Hello,

we are planning to deploy Cisco IP Phone 78XX, 88XX with 802.1x authentication. The below admin guide page 16 states "When 802.1X authentication is enabled on the phone, you should disable the PC port and voice VLAN." So is that mean we cannot connect a PC to IP Phone PC Port when 802.1x is enabled ?, and do we have to consider separate port from switch for PC unlike usual Switch to phone and Phone to PC method ?

Hi,

You can definitely use both. Here is dot1x design guide which shows how
implement this.

The phone guide might be referring to best practice for security but
technically you can still use both voice and data on same switch port with
sot1x on both.
