Cisco Unity Express Version 7.1 voice mail. How to redirect MWI

We have Cisco Unity Express Version 7.1  Voice mail.

I have a phone with multiple extensions on it.

I want to have some of the extensions' voice mail show the Message Indicator Lamp on that phone.

Line 1 2942

Line 2 4002

Line 3 3115

I want line 3 MWI to show up on this phone.

I can't figure how to do it.

thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

First off, you are most welcome my friend! And thank you to Francisco for your kind words as well!

This change in CUCM will light the RED MWI Lamp for 3115 as well.

You will just need to tweak the Message Lamp Setting in CCM for the 3115 Line appearance on the IP Phone;

For the DN/Line Setting on 3115

Line Settings for this Device - Changes affect only this device

Message Waiting Lamp Policy - Light and Prompt

The RED Message Lamp will then work for this third line (3115). Otherwise you will get the "Flashing Envelope"

Cheers!

Rob

Hi Mark,

**EDIT - +5 to Francisco for his good tips!

If you are using CME and the DN isn't the Primary Line on the phone (have a look at this command - note this is only set on the call control system CME, not on CUE itself);

mwi-line

To designate a line other than the primary line of an ephone to be associated with the ephone's message waiting indicator (MWI) lamp, use the mwi-line command in ephone configuration mode. To return to the default, use the no form of this command.

mwi-line line-number

no mwi-line

Syntax Description

line-number

Line number to be associated with the MWI lamp. Range is from 1 to 34.

Command Default

A phone's MWI lamp is lit only when there is a message waiting for the phone's primary line (line 1).

From this good doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/command/reference/cme_m1ht.html#wp1013830

Cheers!

Rob provided some great info.

I'll add some more basic config in case you need it.

There  are multiple ways of doing this, I prefer doing SIP.

We need some more information to answer your question accurately. Is this a SCCP or SIP phone? and have you set up Unity express? This example assumes you have already setup Unity Express, including ccn trigger and subsystems.

Sample SCCP configuration:

conf t

sip-ua

mwi-server ipv4:x.x.x.x unsolicited

telephony service

mwi relay

ephone-dn X

mwi sip

ephone X

button x:x

username X password X

In Unity Express:

username xxx create

username xxx pin xxxx

conf t

username xxx phonenumber 3115

voicemail mailbox owner xxx

enable

Please just use this as a guide/example.

Thanks,

FG

thanks for the really quick help!

Here is what we have:

(call manager)
Cisco Unified CM

System version: 8.5.1

Voice mail (in our Gateway)

Cisco Unity Express Version 7.1

The phone is SCCP.

I've never done any command line in the CUE- just used the GUI.

Are these in the CUE or in the Call Manager?

thanks

Mark

Mark,

I'm afraid our tips were related to CME and CUE integrations.

How is your CUCM and CUE integrated?
