Hi everybody.

We use cisco  unity server for mail box in our ip telephony environment. My question  is :

Does Cisco start including Cisco unity server in its latest CM version or we still need to buy Cisco unity server separately ?

thanks and have a great day

Hi Sarah,

There are 2 seperate products: Cisco Unity and Cisco Unity Connection. Cisco Unity is the voicemail system which runs on windows and has various dependencies on Microsoft. Whereas, Cisco Unity Connection (CUC) is just like the linux based appliance installs running on RHEL OS. The media you use to install CUCM can be used to install CUC or even CUCMBE (Business Edition which has CUCM and Unity Connection installed on the same box). CUC requires a seperate server to run on. You will be presented with the option to choose which application you want to install during the pre install scripts. CUC and CUCMBE will be greyed out if those applications are not supported on that hardware, else you will have the option to select whichever application you need using the same media.

HTH.

Harmit.

In addition the good information from Harmit (Plus 5).

There are numerous applications and services that can be deployed on an existing Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure.

Look in the Overview of Cisco Unified Communications Applications and Services, you can find messaging deployment models, voice messaging  features and functionality, voicemail networking, and design and  deployment best practices for voice messaging applications
