Hi Guys,
I have a query. Let me give you the details,
Scenario:
A route group contains 2 MGCP gateways. i.e. it contains one port from each gateway. And on each gateway one E1 line is terminated.
Route group A
-S0/SU0/ds1-0/1 from R1 (Router 1)
-S0/SU0/ds1-0/1 from R2 (Router 2)
E1 at router R1 is from 'Telco A' & contains DID range 111-111-1001 to 111-111-2000 (Pilot No.111-111-1000)
E1 at router R2 is from 'Telco B' & contains DID range 555-555-5001 to 555-555-6000 (Pilot No.555-555-5000)
Now lets say that i make an outbound call. As per the Route pattern, the call is directed to 'Route group A'. Hence the call will go out to the PSTN via the E1 terminated on router R1. (since R1 is at the top in the route group).
Now my question is,
Case 1: I make an outbound call to a PSTN number, from a Cisco IP phone (within the CUCM cluster) having the DN, 555-555-5005. (within the DID range)
What CLI will be seen at the Telco end, considering that, as per design, the call is going out from E1 with a pilot number 111-111-1000 ?
Case 2: I make an outbound call to a PSTN number, from a Cisco IP phone (within the CUCM cluster) having the DN, 7001. (not a DID number)
What CLI will be seen at the Telco end, considering that, as per design, the call is going out from E1 with a pilot number 111-111-1000 ?
Note: There is no external mask defined on the phone's DN or in the route list.
cheers,
amit

1. Correct, BTN will be used or some carriers actually reject the call. Pilot is for you to deicide so carrier would not use it unless it is the BTN.
2. Sure, if carrier allow sending any CLID.
Remember you are in full control of what digits are sent out to the provider, but they control if they allow it or not.

Case 1 - depends on your configuration, if you have CUCM configured to use "use external phone number mask" on the route patterns and/or route list it would display the DID from the external phone number mask field on the phone, unless the carrier does not allow sending calls with DIDs that do not belong to them, in which case they will typically overwrite it to the BTN
case 2 - You have full control over what you present and if you need to modify it there are several ways to do so, you can do it via calling number transformation on the route pattern/list or you can build calling party transformation patterns
As if you do not do anything and telco alloows sending anything you will simply present 7001.

Regarding Case 1:
If i understand you correctly, if the carrier does not allow sending calls with DIDs that do not belong to them, than they will overwrite it to the BTN or the Pilot number, right?
In that case, even if my phone number, is 555-555-5005, but since it is going out via first E1 PRI, the 'Caller' will see the CLI as 111-111-1000, right ?
Regarding case 2:
So you mean to say, that if i make a call from DN 7001 to my mobile phone, than
on my mobile i will the CLI as 7001 ?
P.S. I am sorry if i am asking reapeting the same questions again, but i just want to be sure that i have understood it right.
Thanks & Regards,
amit
