CME & 9971 SIP phone not working

Michael Durham

As part of my big changes today, I am also trying to add a pair of 9971 video phones to my 2851 (IOS 15.1-4) router.  I tried following the directions from Cisco http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/sip-ip-phone-software/113048-reg-9971ip-cucm.html#sip1

The phones seems to register but has a number of 1026, no idea where it got that.  It has a dial tone but pressing any digit get instant fast busy. What am I configuring wrong?

Two other questions, do I need to configure anything special to use video?  How do I put a dn from the SCCP side onto the SIP phone?  I have a few intercom dn's set up on the SCCP side and need them on the buttons on the SIP phone.

This is my first attempt at working with a SIP phone, sorry for the layman questions.

Thank You,

Michael

Seems phone is trying to download the file with .sgn extension which won't be available in CME. Try to delete ITL/CTL files and probably it should resolve the issue.

Hi,

To enable video, you need to enter 'video' and 'camera' command in global and register pool settings.

You can capture 'debug ccsip messages' output and see what's going on, else try to disable kpml using 'no digit collect kmpl' under pool setting and see if it makes any difference.

I made that dn fix but I still cannot make any calls to any number.  Also, I set up the phone to have 3 numbers assigned but none are showing up.  Instead it shows up extension 1026 which I have never assigned in my system.

Here is what my phone looks like:

To me, it looks like its auto-registering and not picking up its configuration.

Michael,

Two things to add to all the excellent suggestions already provided here..

1. Please modify your configuration

voice service voip
 sip
 registrar server

voice register global

no authenticate realm thedurhamcorporation.com
 authenticate register
 camera
 video

voice register pool 10

camera

video

2. The second thing is to ensure that the phone is looking at the right gateway to download its configuration..

Please navigate to the administrator settings and check the ip configuration. Has the phone got the correct tfttp?

If it has also check the status messages on the phone..It will give us a clue as to what is going on

Please rate all useful posts

After the changes in 1, it now does not register at all.  I checked the IP information and iti is correct.  My CME server is 10.110.0.1 as is the TFTP server.

Here are the status screen shots:

That took care of the registering issue, thank you.

But now there is two new problems:

1. the SIP phone cannot dial out, every button is a fast busy.

2. For some reason the dn numbers show up and not the extension numbers.  When I pick up a SCCP phone and press 1, the SIP phone rings and I can answer it and talk both ways.

My config has my did translate to 1000 and my SCCP phones use that as the main line.  I set up a dn for SIP with the same number so the SIP phone can answer incoming calls.  Is this correct?

1. For first issue, did you try with disabling kpml under pool settings? Also share debug ccsip messages output.

2. What do you mean by dn number shows up but not extension number?

3. Need more details on how you are managing translations now for me to comment on it.

Hi,

I can see that your register pool button 2 is assigned to DN 1 while you don't have DN 1. Instead you have DN 11 so you this might be typo mistake. Try to correct it.

For video you can follow Vivek suggestions and make sure that you apply create profile on voice register global and then reset the phone.

Also since you are using 2851 keep in mind that it doesn't support video conferencing since it is using PVDM2

Regarding intercom, you can delete SCCP intercom if you don't need them and config SIP intercom.
