Hi All,
I have a production Call Manager Express and a demo UC540... I want to highligh some of the SPA500 phones and give them PSTN access. I'm sure its possible, but just thought I'd check here first...
Can I tie in my production CME enviroment to my UC540? If so, is their a 'best practice' method of doing this? I'm aware any configuration on the UC540 will need to be OOB.

Yes, it can be done. Just configure voip DPs between them.

SIP? H323? MGCP?

I am under the impression that H.323 would work better for certain features. SIP is pretty much equivalent and easier to troubleshoot.
Certainly not MGCP that is not a trunking protocol.
