Hi All,
As we are experiencing poor audico quality when we use g729 / G711 , we decided to priotize opus over al other codecs.
Consider the below configs and suggest me the changes the need to be made.
1) We have "Low lossy Audio code preference list " where opus is on TOP.
2) Conside I have 10 DP names "DP1 to DP10"and Regions "RG1 to RG10"
3) Phones which are using DP2(using RG2) has problem,so in region relationship , do we need to update codec proferece list to "Low lossy Audio code preference list " and what is the maximum audio bit rate for opus ?
4) if I wanted to make Opus as top priority for entire cluster what would be bets possible solution.

If you want the codec preference list to be used it needs to be set on the region. If all you want is to use the same codec for all regions then the simplest is to change the codec preference list used in service parameters or second simplest use one region for all device pools as you really do not need to use individual regions per device pool.

Also, Opus isn’t magic. If the network path sucks the audio quality will too.
PS- Reminder that CUCM doesn’t negotiate RTCP by default for audio calls - and without that, CUBE cannot send a CMR to CUCM in the BYE. While RTCP slightly increases per-call bandwidth, it hugely improves your ability to spot problems. I enable it by default (and account for it in QoS class bandwidth allocations) as my own personal best practice.

So if I wanted to update audio codec preference list for specific region, do I need to update this one region relation ship for that particular region

Yes, or if it’s what you want as the default, set in service parameters or if you have the sites in the same region set the region relationship with itself.

@Roger Kallberg Service parameters already contains the preference list that opus on top priority.
I have updated the preference list in region relation ship, still calls are taking G722 . Right now audio bandwidth limit set to 64 KBPS , do we need to change it ?

If you have other regions where this works I would suggest that you look at those settings and replicate the same to this.

I am planning to implement on next week and update here.
