Configure Intercom to broadcast to group of phones in CUCM 10.5

Hello,

I'm attempting to configure the intercom feature to page a group of phones.  Apparently the usual setup does not allow the intercom directory number to be shared to multiple devices.  How do I setup the ability to have a receptionist notify multiple phones about an event?

Thanks!

What you're looking for is paging, and you need either the paging server, or a 3rd party.

CUCM doesn't have paging capabilities.

Hi,

The traditional Intercom is a one to one mapping and does not give the leverage to one to many. You would have to switch to Informacast type of solution. See below for details.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

This is one of THE Most annoying lack of features CUCM has and has caused me to do no more expansion in our network with CUCM phones. Cisco has allowed third partys to charge almost as much as it cost for CUCM support. It is a joke that you can't do phone paging ..  It is simple websend message to the phones to tell them to listen to the multicast group.  Stupid that they don't and we are moving away from it for that reason.

You can deploy paging server in its basic version which is included with CUCM.

It is too limited.  50 phones and most if not all advanced features cost money. And most of our sites are remote from the server so you end up paying for a box that is local or routing multicast over a network.  Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth for a phone system when most if not all other vendors have paging to the phone. This is like a holdover from when cisco made you buy a feature server for everything.
