Configuring Inbound external number caller ID

I am still fairly new to VOIP management. I took over my employers phone system about 5 months ago. Today, I received a request to set it so that a staff member is able to see the Caller ID of inbound external numbers so that they know who is calling. Is there a way to do this in CUCM or is this reliant on the callers service provider?

OK, that's a different thing you're asking. No, CUCM does not provide the ability to map numbers to names out of the box for IP Phones, if you use Jabber, then you could configure them in a directory source and then ONLY Jabber would do that.

What you're asking requires a 3rd party directory.

The caller ID is the phone number of whoever is calling you, if you're not receiving it, then it's most definitely something you need to discuss with your telco.

Jaime,

Thanks for the speedy response! Currently when we receive calls from external sources the only thing that displays is the phone number. However the staff members wants to be able to see the names of the people calling. Is this possible?
