Control IP Phone Registration

Hi All -

Thanks in advance for your help/ideas!

I help manage a global CUCM infrastructure and we have a large problem with users moving their phones between sites. While the phone registers and works ok, it creates a management nightmare because the end users never communicate that this is happening. We would like to control the enviroment so that IP phones can register only at specfic sites, otherwise they get "registration rejected" or something to that affect. I know that you can use physical locations to help with shared resources when using device mobility, but is there a way to leverage physical locations to control phone registration.

Thanks,

Tom

You cannot reject previously configured phones from registering, however you can rely on Device Mobility to control how the phones will be used.  Basically if phone is moved from home location to another location you could have it pickup a roaming DP that does not allow them to make calls, etc.

Chris

Hi Tom,

We can give an solution to the above problem which checks the devices for the for the sites to which it is allowed to register. In case it is found that allowed config mismatches the phone can be unregistered by the application.
