Hi Everyone,

 We are in the process of replacing out PSTN Service Provider that provides us our PRI’s for our Cisco Unified Communications Manager 11.5 and Cisco Router 2911. If the New Service Provider sets the New PRI’s configuration up the same as they were setup with our Old Services Provider. In theory all that we should have to do is to unplug the old PRI’s and plug the new ones in those ports on the Gateway and we should be good to go. Is this correct?

Yes, if the circuits are actually identical you can just plug and play. That’s rare though. There is usually some small difference that requires config tweaks. For example, a difference in ANI/DNIS/RDNIS or ISDN TON expectations. Or signaling type. Or when CNAM is presented.

PS- ISDN is ancient. Consider switching to SIP. Most carriers just drop a box on-prem and convert to SIP out the back side of it anyway at this point. VoIP-TDM-VoIP just complicates the design and usually causes faxing to fail. It also muddles MOH if they use G.729 on the backhaul instead of G.711.

Thank you for your Help Jonathan! We do plan on moving to SIP Trunks instead of PRI's in the Future. Our new Service provider told us it would be best to stay with PRI's during the switch. Then switch to SIP Trunks in the near future with them.
