CUCM 11-Jabber Client as Softphone mode

Can we use Jabber client with only softphone capabilities for CUCM 11 ?. I heard that this become difficult starting CUCM 11. Correct ? Believe there are options when you deploy Jabber to ignore the IMP functionality - can't seem to find that document.

We want to make sure that softphone mode only does not affect Lync/Outlook IM functionality. Our CUCM version is 11.

Couple things -

1) Can someone point me to that document?

2) Do you still need a IMP server to enable just the softphone feature?

Hi there

My bad!

Can you try adding the below in your jabber-config.xml and test it. Upload to TFTP, Restart TFTP, Reset Jabber, Login again

<Presence>
  <PresenceDomain>{domain}</PresenceDomain>
 </Presence>

Hope this Helps

Cheers
Rath!

this is exactly what I was thinking to do.
will try and will let you know the results. thanks

Beautiful, so this worked perfectly. 5 Star !

Now, to add to the complexity. My customer have multiple forests (3 to be exact) so people will login into Jabber with different Domains.

e.g. user1@abc.com
       user2@xyz.com
       user3@efg.com

I will add SRV for multiple domains internally. I am planning to get ADLS deployment so that will work as a interface between CUCM and multiple AD forest.

In short, can we add multiple presence domains in Jabber-config.xml file ?

Thats great to know. Please check out this document.

Thanks RKM, yes I have seen this.
my only concern is I don't have IMP in my infrastructure.
so, basically its using Flexible JID in softphone mode. No IMP.
will try these though .. !

hi Cisco Rath,

I still haven't tested softphone multi domain will do it ASAP.

I have a basic question about Flexible JID (in full UC mode),

if I sync users from LDAP using SAMACCOUNTNAME.

so, my user id on CUCM is SAMACCOUNTNAME.

And I have enabled flexible JID.

How do users actually login into Jabber ?
I believe they still login with SAMACCOUNTNAME@domain1.com

SAMACCOUNTNAME@domain2.com etc. and I need to set my SRV's for all these domains ...

Its not their login behavior which changes, its only their IM address which changes to their email ID.

Is this correct understanding ?

or users can login into Jabber with their email ID now and not SAMACCOUNTNAME ?

or user can login both ways ?

I still need to test but please advise if you know this already, thanks for your help.

Ok, so with flexible JID enabled (softphone mode only).
I am able to login into Jabber with both my SAMACCOUNTNAME@domain
and email address !

Good to know that..:)

Hope this helps

Cheers
Rath!
