CUCM 6.1.2 to 8.5 Upgrade

Dear All,

I want to upgrade a client call manager from version 6.1.2 to version 8.5. It is my understanding that both versions run different licensing model.

CUCM Ver 6 runs DLU while CUCM runs either UCl or CUWL. The customer expects the upgrade to cover up for 7000 users though they currently have 1800 users. They currently have about14000 DLU licenses and 6 nodes.

Using a 3x3 UCSS purchase, I licensed for the 7000 users.

I need to know what happens to the existing DLUs or whether these licenses are migrated along with the upgrade.

Regards

CUCM Ver 6 runs DLU while CUCM runs either UCl or CUWL.

When buying licenses, CUCM 7.1.5+ and 8+ both use UCL or CUWL.

However, you still get DLU files to install on CUCM. UCL & CUWL won't be implimented on CUCM 'till 9, I believe.

When you upgrade to CUCM 8, all you'll need are new feature licenses. However, when you order these, Cisco Licensing will internally convert your DLUs into UCL or CUWL.
