Hi guys,
I'm currently in the planning process to upgrade from CUCM 7.1(5a) on MCS server to CUCM 8.6(2a) on UCS C-Series via the "Bridge Upgrade" method whilst retaining current IP addr for all the CUCM nodes in the cluster.
As I understood it, the normal bridge upgrade path would be to:
- Install CUCM 8.6(2a) on the inactive partition on the current MCS hardware,
- Bring up the current CUCM cluster on 8.6(2a) and perform DRS backup
- Build UCS C-Series and install CUCM 8.6(2a) on the new CUCM cluster
- Perform DRS restore on the new cluster.
However I'd like to know if the following process is supported by Cisco?
- DRS Backup on existing cluster CUCM 7.1(5a)
- Build UCS C-Series and install CUCM 7.1(5a)
- Perform DRS restore on the new cluster
- Upgrade the new cluster to CUCM 8.6(2a)
Thanks for the comments and thoughts
Kind regards
Daniel

No, because CUCM 7 isn't supported on VMWare.

As Gordon states it is not officially supported, but the reality is the MCS server may not support version 8.0, I personally have done couple of such upgrades successfully, and have not run into any issues.
