CUCM 8.5 restart

We need to restart our CM boxes, but can't afford an outage.

We did this in a limited non-production environment a long time ago, but I can't recall the outcome.

I think the phones just re-registered (and quickly) to the other server.

Does anyone know the actual impact to RTP and phones during a restart of a publisher/subscriber?

We currently have our phones registered to our subscriber, so restarting the pub won't be a problem.

However, we can't let the phones take a hit (hospital).

Assuming you have your CUCM groups properly configured the phones will just failover to the other server.

Since RTP on phone to phone call is between endpoints there won't be any problem.
