Hello,

i have  2 sites HO and DR, CUCM is setup in distributed call processing as one cluster, HO phones in HO device pool and DR phones in DR device pool. everything is perfect when the users are on their desk phones dialing to PSTN according to their CSS

Question:

when HO users travel to DR and when they login in EM, they will get their profile & privileges of CSS and they will be able to reach PSTN ?? becz DR phones device pool, line css, locations, are different, do all these will affect HO user profile.

Is it distributed call processing or clustering over WAN? If it same cluster, then yes, the HO user will get the HO privileges when he logs in to his EM profile from DR site.

Dear Suresh,

Is it distributed call processing & clustering over WAN?

yes and also clustering over WAN it is in same cluster.

the HO user will get the HO privileges when he logs in to his EM profile from DR site.

if yes then the HO user's PSTN call will travel from DR to HO PSTN VG. Then the question is where the device pool is playing a role??? want to know much deeper the role of the device pool.

thanks

Clark,

The Device Pool contains a lot of resources and settings that get applied to devices. What exactly are you trying to do or what questions do you have? Do you not want the HO users to use the HO VG when they're at DR? If so, you can configure Physical Locations and Device Mobility. So that when the users from HO are in DR, they would use the CSS of the site, which would route the calls out the DR VG.

Device Mobility

This chapter provides information about device mobility, which allows Cisco Unified Communications Manager to determine whether the phone is at its home location or at a roaming location. Cisco Unified Communications Manager uses the device IP subnets to determine the exact location of the phone. By enabling device mobility within a cluster, mobile users can roam from one site to another and acquire the site-specific settings. Cisco Unified Communications Manager then uses these dynamically allocated settings for call routing, codec section, media resource selection, and so forth.

what i want is HO users when they sit in DR they should go from HO VG.

In my setup HO user in HO device pool and DR users in DR device pool and route list contains standard local route group and failover route group (DR VG E1 links)  incase when the standard local route group all e1 fails it will use failover route group (DR VG E1 links which are dedicated for HO failover)

Please make sure the device profile is configured with correct Line CSS to match the HO patterns.

so as confirmed by suresh that it will consider the Line CSS of the UDP  so the user of HO will not face any issues when they login in DR phones

Hello

yes , you should see everything very well. Kindly check the below link for Extension mobilty over clutser . Extension mobilty is only subscribe service for IPphone , so no changes will apply .

Dear islam,

just to confirm ,the link you have provided to me is for the EM between two different cluster (inter cluster) ????, for intra cluster it is normal EM usually we configure as below.

EM service,

UDP + Line

enable EM service on UDP

enable EM service on phone and enable EM on the device.

Thanks

Hi

yup , completely true. Other useful documents for intra clutser find the below:-

Dear Islam,

the EM is within the cluster and not EMCC.

1- are u able to see that phone registered to your cluster ?.

phones is regsitered to Branch CUCM (subscriber)

2- try to do call internally?.

Internal calls perfect ( by access code 8 + EXT)

3-Can you check the partition and CSS?.You should able to do calls , you did the difficult part , now the issue will be very easy.

Generally it should work. when a HO user whoes phone DP is different and he is using another department DP ??  whenever i dial i get a fast busy tone.

thanks
