CUCM Hunt Pilot with call pickup odd behaviour.

Hi guys,

I was testing out the call pickup group in a hunt pilot I created. I applied the pickup group I created to the hunt pilot. I also had set the pickup group (to the pickup group I created) on each DN- for the purpose of the test I just used 2 DNs. When I tested the set up it worked as expected... But then I realized that each time I rang one of the DNs it would use the pickup group. e.g.

The hunt pilot number is 5555

Phone 1 is 5556

Phone 2 is 5557

I want the pickup group only to apply when the hunt pilot number is used. If I rang 5556 or 5557 the other phone is alerted of the call pickup - which I dont want!

I thought by just selecting <none> in the call pickup field in both DNs (5556, 5557) and only applying the pickup group to the HP (5555) that the problem would be solved? However when I do this the call pickup does not work at all then. Oddly enough, if I leave the call pickup group selected in one of the DNs (besides the HP number) it works? I am using one physical IP Phone and one soft IP communicator for the purpose of this test. I enabled the call pickup (with the pickup group I created) on both the physical phone (5557) and the HP(5555). It seems to work this way but it doesnt seem right?

Any suggestions... If it does not make sense let me know and I will try explain a bit better.

What's the call manager version?

What is the purpose of the call pick up group?

Is there a reason the members should not be a member of the hunt group and answer the calls via the hunt group?

I cant check the version until tomorrow so will let you know then.

Basically 3 users want to be part of a group (hence the HP 5555) but they want to ability to answer the call from the other phones in the event that someone is away from there desk (hence the call pickup). Each user still has their individual DN (my examples 5556 & 5557) so in the case that someone rings ext: 5556 it should only be available to this DN (no call pickup available) and vice-versa for ext:5557.

Note: I know I only have 2 users assigned in this set up (5556 & 5557) as well as the HP (5555) this is just for when I am testing.

**Update: The CUCM version in use is 8.6.2

Seems to be working as designed. Need to put the pickup group on the DN of each extension that can pickup another extension. You could create separate DNs on each phone to be used only for the hunt group but at that point you might as well just assign them shared lines.

I thought assigning the hunt group with the call pickup (ext: 5555) that I would not need to select this option on each of the other DNs (5556 & 5557). I expected that, if a user rang the HP on 5555 that (using a top down algorithm) it would firstly go to ext: 5556 - while also alerting the user on 5557 that a call pickup is available and then go to 5557 -  while also alerting the user on 5556 that a call pickup is available.

This works only the way I want when I have the call pickup field assigned in both the HP (5555) and the physical phone (5557). I thought if I had it just selected in the hunt group that it should work.

What setting do you have for the service parameter "Allow Calls to be picked up from Line Group Members"?

Cant check right now and I generally dont remember going at that setting so it is more than likely the default.

**Update: It is set to False.
