CUCM - Server: FQDN or IP

Marc Richter

Hello All,

are there any Best Practices if you need to asign either the IP Address or FQDN in a new CUCM deployment in System - Server Settings

As far as I've learned you enter the IP Address for the CUCM and the FQDN for IM&P Servers, but can't find any best practice documentation about it.

Thanks and regards

Marc

FQDN for MRA (Expressway) reasons, I believe this is well described in latest SRND.

Chris is correct FQDN is the best practice now. You will find this wrong in the CCNA Collaboration books they were written off the old best practice of not relaying on DNS, but for Jabber certs if you just use IP you will always have cert errors as no one will sign a cert with IP address in it anymore, well unless it is your own internal ca maybe.
