CUCM v12.0.1 | Phone external mask not working | DID display challenges.

Hello experts!

Please suggest another way around to make DID visible to caller.

Customer using PSTN connectivity where DID and extensions are in different range. For incoming I have created multiple TP's in CUCM to achieve DID to extension reachability. To achieve, i TRIED it out with Phone Line External Masking, Route Group, Route Pattern but no luck

In my organisation, I have 300 extensions with 300 DID's. To achieve DID I tried with below actions but nothing worked.

1.

In Route List, SIP trunk is assigned and calling part transformation is NULL and Phone external mask is set to <DID to be displayed> Output was calling party no (extension) in DNA. When dialed PRI Pilot No is displayed.
2.

In Route List, SIP trunk was assigned and when calling part transform is set to any of the DID then the DID is visible.

3. No Route list configured. Route Pattern is pointed to SIP trunk which is pointing to VG. Under line settings Phone External Mask DID is configured. Though no luck. Extension is shown in calling party in DNA. When dialed PRI Pilot No is displayed.

4. Cannot try configuring 300 translations on VG since its not feasible.

awaiting for feedbacks.

thanks & regards,

Ritesh Desai.

What is the protocol used between CUCM and VG.

Check if there are any translation-rule config and matching

@Syed

SIP protocol is used. No Voice translations matched.

If I follow your description you have VG------SIP Trunk------CUCM----Phone. 1. Create partition for outbound transformation_pt 2. Create calling search space for outbound transformation_css 3. Create calling party transformation pattern. Pattern=internal extension and calling party transformation mask = DID. make sure to put this pattern in outbound transformation_pt 4. on your SIP trunk to VG in the Outbound calls section. make the "Calling Party Transformation CSS" = outbound transformation_css This should make it so the transformation happens on the SIP trunk outbound the same way your TP work on inbound.

Hi @Eric Ingram

Thanks for putting efforts and your suggestion. I'll test tomorrow as currently am OOO.

@Eric Ingram

Hi worked with your suggested plan. Nothing worked. I tried 2 possibilities

Possibility-1

Configured Route List and tested call. DNA result

Device :Type= SIPTrunk
Transformed Calling Party = 23115301 (Calling Transformation taking place on SIP Trunk)

VG ISDN q931 debug shows me calling party: 99998

Possibility-2

Deleted Route List. Route Patterns are configured and routed to SIP trunks. DNA result

Device :Type= SIPTrunk
Transformed Calling Party = 23115301 (Calling Transformation taking place on SIP Trunk)

VG ISDN q931 debug shows me calling party: 99998

ISDN DEBUG

calls are received and answered by caller but pilot no is displayed.

Is this a bug? Do I need to open TAC because CUCM is translating but VG is taking extension.

Your VG config looks good.
It is worth testing with a translation rule on VG, just to see if that works.

@Syed

Yes, I know VG config is fine. I tested already with translation rule and works fine. But configuring 300 rules on VG is not right approach considering processing etc.

Its weird to see that CUCM is successfully transforming on SIP trunk and why VG shows calling party as extension.

Ritesh Desai.

Take the following on the VG for a test call -

debug isdn q931
debug voice cc inout
debug voip translation
debug voip dialpeer

@R0g22

Thanks for putting efforts.

Attached output of the logs for reference (single call). I have observed in CUCM detailed Logs that the DID which should transform is not happening and is not visible in CUCM logs. Obviously then VG would not have!

CUCM DNA output analysis says the SIP TRUNK calling party transform mask as 01122222222 and CUCM logs does not show 01122222222 in cucm logs, why?

Extn: 99998

CLI: 9718305402
