Custom directory - AnyConnect for Cisco VPN Phone

VPN Phones are unable to access the phone services setup, the directory is an external directory source URL inside the corporate network and not CUCM server

This works on the internal phones and never worked on the VPN phone

can you please confirm if the traffic to this xternal directory source URL will pass via ASA then CUCM as a proxy to external directory source URL inside the corporate network? or Directly from ASA to external directory source URL inside the corporate network. Needed help understanding traffic flow

CUCM is NOT used as a proxy for external directories/services which the phone is configured to use. The phone would reach directly to where the resource is.

On the VPN phone however we are getting an error 'Host not found' with the FQDN of the directory and also doesn't work with the IP address either. PCAP from ASA inside interface showed no traffic related to directory service, Could you please suggest what can we check to start the troubleshooting
