de-jiiter buffer size and jitter tolerance relation

Hi everybody

 

Bad means listener  will experience the call quality issue in the following:

Let say we have a phone with de jitter buffer of 50 msec, what is the maximum jitter before listener will notice the bad quality because of jitter ?

Hi,

  • One-way latency (mouth to ear) should be no more than 150 ms.

  • Average one-way jitter should be targeted at less than 30 ms.

The effects may not be visible if you go slightly over these limits but as you move away from these values you will gradually begin to notice the voice quality issues.
