Hi everybody
Consider the following ridiculous set up
analog phone1----voice gateway---pstn.----analog phone 2

========================================================
Below is a call manager running on a dedicated server.
analog phone1---voice gateway----ipnetwork-------router2------Call manager---ipphone2.
considering communication from analog phone1-----------> ip phone2
2)where should dial peer be configured? at voice gateway? at router 2? at call manager?
Considering communication analog phone1<-------------ip phone2
3)where should dial peer be configured? at voice gateway? at router 2? at call manager?

Hello,
1) Do we need to configure dial peer at voice gateway for analog phone1 to communicate wiith analogphone2?
Yes. You need a POTS dial-peer to send the call through FXO or T1/E1 port.
2)where should dial peer be configured? at voice gateway? at router 2? at call manager?
At voice gateway. You need a VOIP dial peer to send the call to CUCM's IP address. Depending on your CUCM parameter configuration, you may need to configure the voice gateway as H.323 in CUCM to accept H.323 signaling from that device.
3)where should dial peer be configured? at voice gateway? at router 2? at call manager?
Two options:
1.- Configure voice gateway as H.323 in CUCM. Create a route pattern in CUCM and send the call to voice gateway.
2.- Configure router2 as H.323 in CUCM. Create a route pattern in CUCM to send the call to router2. Finally, configure a VOIP dialpeer in router2 to send the call to voice gateway's IP address.
If you're using IOS 15.1(2)T or later, there's a toll-fraud prevention feature. You can read this document: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk90/technologies_tech_note09186a0080b3e123.shtml
