DTMF issue with QSIG between Alcatel and Cisco

Hi,

I configured a QSIG between an Alcatel PBX and a CUCM.

All my PRI interface are configured in the Cisco's side so Alcatel phones have to use QSIG to do an outbound call.

When I'm using an Alcatel phone to do an outbound call, everything is working except the DTMF.

When I call a Cisco phone from an Alcatel Phone the DTMF works.

When I do an outbound call from a cisco phone, the DTMF works

So my issue appears only with alcatel phone through the QSIG for outbound calls.

In addition, with the debug isdn q931 command on the ISR I can see the following message when I'm using DTMF. For exemple I'm pressing the "#" button :

Facility i =

0x9FAA06800100820100A11002021B6D06072B0C028852B66D160131

Protocol Profile =  Networking Extensions

  0x0100

  0x820100

0xA11002021B6D06072B0C028852B66D160131

  Component = Invoke component,

Unsupported operation

If somebody know this issue ?

Configuration :

CUCM : 8.5.1

ISR MGCP with QSIG Variant ECMA

QSIG alcatel R8 variant ECMA

Hi Alex,

What is the call flow to the pstn from the Alcatel?

Alcatel-->QSIG-->GW1-->CUCM--------|

PSTN<----------GW1<--Switch-type?<--|

Hi,

The call flow is :

Phone----alcatel pbx----qsig----GW1----mgcp----CUCM----mgcp----GW2----pstn

Thanks for your help

Hi Alexandre,

OK, the first thing is check the QSIG gateway to verify it is recieving dtmf(and understands that it is dtmf) and is passing it to CUCM.  Could you send me the following

From both gateways (QSIG - PSTN)  show mgcp

From QSIG gateway for a call from Alcatel phone to pstn location that dtmf doesn't work - debug mgcp packets

please include the digits pressed

Hi,

You can find the debug mgcp packet from the QSIG gateway in attached file. I apologize cause there are many calls in progress on this gateway. I tried to send the following DTMF during call : 1 2 3 4 5 6 #

But I already know you will see nothing in the debug file. This is my problem, no DTMF are sent, so nothing appears in the debug

Thanks a lot for your help

Hi Alexandre,

In the debugs we see CUCM request notification for any dtmf event

R: D/[0-9ABCD*#]

When the gateway detects dtmf of say 1 we should see a Notify with

O:D/1

We don't see any of this coming in the QSIG gateway.  Could you try changing to out of band for dtmf?  Currently it is set to

MGCP dtmf-relay voip codec all mode nte-ca

can you change to

mgcp dtmf-relay voip codec all mode out-of-band

Also, what version of IOS are you running on the gateway?

Thanks

Hi frlindse,

I change the configuration to : mgcp dtmf-relay voip codec all mode out-of-band then reset the gateway. So I'm using the dtmf out-of-band now but no difference. I don't see anything in the debug mgcp packet. It's very strange cause I see dtmf in the debug only when I'm doing an internal call between Alcatel and Cisco, nothing during PSTN calls.

Currently I'm running 15.1(3)T on the both gateway

In attached file you can find the new show mgcp for the both gateway and a new debug mgcp pac. In this debug file I'm trying tu use dtmf 1 2 3 4 5 6 #

Thanks and regards

Hi Alexandre,

Could you also gather

debug isdn q931

debug isdn standard

Debug isdn events

For a call to an extension and a call to the pstn from the Alcatel, just to see if we are getting it from the pbx.

Thanks,

Hi frlindse,

Sorry for the delay but I was a bit busy.

You can find in attached file the traces you asked me for the both gateway :

- Call from alcatel to an extention : DebugMGCP_ISDNstandard_GW1_InternalCall.txt and DebugMGCP_ISDNstandard_GW2_InternalCall.txt

- Call from alcatel to the pstn : DebugMGCP_ISDNstandard_GW1_PSTNCall.txt and DebugMGCP_ISDNstandard_GW2_PSTNCall.txt

Tanks and Regards

Dear Alexandre,

I am going to do a similar integration soon. I would really appreciate if you could send me the show run of your GW1.

Also some supportive document for integration.

Thanks

Hi,

This is the show tech of the first gateway, have fun

Hi Guys,

Here are a couple of PDF's that show how both sides should look.  One is H.323 to a gateway, the other MGCP controlled CUCM

Thanks I will read the documents you gave me and hope it will

helps me

I don't see any dtmf coming across to circuit.  Since this is isdn they should come over the d-channel as an out-of-band signal or they are being delivered inband as part of the voice stream.

When you call a CUCM phone or a pstn phonoe and the Alcatel phone presses digits do you hear the tone?

(Attached are yje decoded QSIG messages)

Bonjour frlindse bonjour alexandre

Hello frlindse Hello Alexandre

Thank you frlindse thanks to you I solved my problem of DTMF Alcatel to the public network through CISCO.

Alexander must force the LRA to your protocol QSIG-GF for voice frequencies pass.

Thank you again to both !!!!!!
