Awhile ago I was tasked with making it so our teacher phone calls went directly to VM during teaching hours. I've go that going (thanks kkoeper12), but internal callers get the VM as well as outside callers while the schedule is active. I would like internal callers to be able to call those teachers and have the phone ring.
While I was working on the other issue and had a question, someone posted that I could get this done by creating a time schedule for the time I wanted calls to ring to teacher phones, set that time schedule to the teachers "active schedule", configure the "closed" Transfer Rule for the teacher to go to the greeting, and the "Standard" to transfer to extension and release to switch.
I did this and the phone goes to VM while my time schedule is active. So it behaves the same as it does with external calls. While reading, It says that the transfer rules only apply to indirect calls so that means that the above recommended settings will not work for my issue.
Again, I have a time schedule that forces all external calls to VM. While the schedule is active, I would like internal extension-to-extension calls to ring to the phone. Any help on how to get that configured would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I think you will have to play with partitions in this scenario.
1. Assign the teacher's extension to a new partition (eg.Internal-teacher).
2. Assign this partition to the device's CSS. This will enable users to call the teacher directly regardless of ToD.
3. Create a new partition to assign the same teacher's extension (eg. external-teacher). here when someone calls the teacher from the PSTN, the partition will route the call as you define it.
4. Assign this new partition to the gateway CSS (Gateway CSS and Device CSS needs to be separate else this wont work)
5. Set the external-teacher partition to the time of day routing you applied above.

Thanks for the reply!
With that said, should the external-teacher ONLY be in Gateway_CSS? Maybe that is why it's not working for me. I have it attached to a few CSS's.
I don't really have a "devices" CSS the PT that our other phones are using is just called "extensions_PT". I assume this is what you mean.
Actual devices are not specified in our CSS schema.
Thanks again

Correct, external-teacher partition should only be in the Gateway_CSS but it depends on what you do with that call.
By devices CSS, i meant what CSS is assigned to the phones. There should be on CSS assigned on the phone configuration page and one under the Line, the internal-teacher should be available either on the CSS assigned to phones or to lines. The external-teacher should only be available on gateway CSS.

It doesn't seem to be working.
1) All phones were originally configured to extensions_PT (i.e. internal-teacher)
2) I created the Teachers-in-Class_PT to replace that for their DN PT (i.e external-teacher)
3) I have removed the "external" PT from all CSS except gateway_CSS
4) Doing a directory number search I show my test DN associated to both PT's although going to the phone the Teachers-in-Class_PT is the one set.
I still get VM with this when I dial the test DN. Am I missing something?

I am with George on this one,
1-put the following in place (direct transfer to voicemail), this has the advantage that you will not have to configure call forward settings on the phone itself:
http://ciscoshizzle.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/direct-transfer-to-voicemail.html
2-create a separate partition that has a a translation rule in it that translates incoming calls to for instance *XXXX (if you are using 4 digit internal extensions, so you will need to tweak this) , of course based on TOD
3- add that partition to your Gateway_CSS so it applies to external calls only.
please Note, that I have not tested it.

Ok since I am outnumbered I have looked through George's instructions again.
I feel that I have everything 100% right with the exception of this:
1. Assign the teacher's extension to a new partition (eg.Internal-teacher)
3. Create a new partition to assign the same teacher's extension (eg. external-teacher)
How do I assign 2 partitions to one DN? The way I'm assigning a partition now is under the phone line ->Directory Number Information->route partition.
Right now I have it at external-teacher, and my ToD works, but I get an error when dialing ext-to-ext. If I change it to internal-teacher ext-to-ext works, but then outside callers ring to the phone during ToD.
Thanks

You dont, you assign 2 partitions to 2 DNs where internal-teacher has the actual DN of the teacher and external-teacher will be a Callforward of the actual DN to Unity with ToD logic applied.

I would still use translation pattern in the Gateway_CSS:
for instance external caller calls teacher on x12345, based on TOD:
12345 gets translated into *12345 which bangs the call straight into 12345's Voicemail (as per my previous instructions). outside of this time frame it is business as usual and the caller gets connected to the x12345 phone.
