external dial going to the wrong location

Im trying to troubleshoot a number that is cuoriosly going to the wrong location. So follow me if you will.....

I'll dial a fax machine internally with a 4 digit dialing and doing so results in reaching the fax machine....however, if I dial the 10 digit with a 9 as if I'm dialing out, then it goes to automated voice line that we have set up for our job line.

What gives??

Any ideas would be appreciated....

You need to look at your dial plan, nothing happens just because. If that's happening, is because that's how it's configured.

Most likely you do have something configured that way to avoid sending those calls outside and are translating them to an internal number

Hi Ray,

You can generally sort these type of problems using DNA

the Dialed Number Analyzer

Cheers!

It was a routing issue, however not from our system....from Windstream.

I wasnt able to use DNA to troubleshoot, mostly from lack of expierence with it but I ran a debug on our routers and I noticed when I dialed the fax number it was being forwarded to the job line.

Thanks for the help!
