I have a cluster with 4 subsbribers. The cluster is divided on 2 UCS plataforms.
We have installed now a new C210 M2 at a remote site and installed on it 2 clusters of IPCC.
Aditionally, we tried to install 1 Call manager subscriber.
All the insllation goes ok ( including network checkings and connectivity, * The subscriber ip is registered at the Publisher that is located on other UCS B Type server ).
During the last part of the components installation of the Call manager subscriber we got an error message from the install application that says - "The installation has encountered an unrecoverable internal error, please contact your support".
I have tried both 1000 and 2500 users OVA deployment ( the ova file is cucm_8.5_vmv7_v2.1.ova , it worked good while i've installed 1xSubscriber at the other plataform ). Also, i've tried many time the same installation.
NOTE : All the network configurations are OK.
I have more that 2500 users generally, the question is : The subscribers' must be at 7500 ova deployment ?

Since you have a cluster with 4 subscribers, you are probably splitting the users registration across those 4 subscribers.
There are 3 flavors of OVA files: 1000, 2500, 7500 users.
When you install a VM for a specific subscriber, you will have to choose the proper OVA file depending of the number of users registered to that specific subscriber. You should also count the number of phones that might fallback to that specific subscriber in case of the failure of another subscriber.
Suppose you have a total of 3000 users. 1500 users will use Sub1 and Sub2 while the other 1500 users will use Sub3 and Sub4 (1/1 redundancy).
Then you will need to use the 2500 users OVA file on all the subscriber.

Hi phoogen,thanks for the info.
Regarding the flavors of the OVAa, the 1000 users is only support at C200 UCS. I'm installing C210m2.
I have tried 2500 OVA and the result was the same, " The installation has encountered an unrecoverable internal error".
Now I'm trying with the 7500, but also i will be supported by Cisco TAC in a few. I guess there is something on the ESXI.
Will keep update.

i have the exact same problem when trying to install CUPS subscriber. The Publisher installation was ok
I am quite sure that it's the same problem taht you had with CUCM
Any solution found or provided by the Cisco TAC?

I've openned a SR for this. The engineer asked dump logs of this :
Anyway, I don't really know if the issue was a bad .iso file or the firewall that was blocking TCP sessions to the publisher.
That was the procedure
Dumping Install Logs
====================
In order to dump install logs on a virtual UC installation, it is necessary to use a virtual serial port on the virtual machine. By default, a serial port is not present when deploying from the Cisco provided OVA. Thus it will often be the case that the first time you hit an installation problem and need to dump the logs, the serial port will not be available. Use this procedure to add a serial port to the virtual machine and dump the logs.
Procedure
Follow this procedure to dump install logs to the serial port on the VM.
1. When the VM is powered off, edit settings and add a serial port to the VM.
Note Note: You cannot add one while the VM is running.
2. You will be required at this time to attach the serial port to a file. Just attach to any temp/junk file, as this file will NOT be used to dump the logs.
3. Power on the VM and start your installation. At boot up, linux will dump some garbage characters (escape sequence characters) into the temp file you attached to the serial port.
4. When you're ready to actually dump the log files, attach a new, empty file to the serial port by editing settings of the VM while the machine is running. You do not have to power down the VM to change the file attached to the serial port.
5. After the file is saved, you can open it using 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html)
6. After you have a successful install in the VM, power off the VM, edit settings and remove the serial port from the VM.
Note Note: Leaving the serial port (or any other unnecessary virtual hardware) can negatively impact performance of the VM. There is no other use of the serial port in a Unified CM VM other than dumping the install logs, so you will not need it again unless you do a fresh install.

My problem was a wrong CUCM hostname when installing the CUPS Publisher.
I solved it changing the CUCM hostname record on the CUPS administation .
