fax issues

Hi all,

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue we've been having. We have a fax machine or rather several that cannot seem to fax to a particular number. I called the outside contact and was told that we are the only location that they cannot recieve a fax from. When I tried to fax to them, I hear the fax tone but it drops after 1 or 2 rings then retries a few seconds later. I've done some digging on my own and even tried some debugging but to no avail mostly because I cant make heads or tails out of the output.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting would be appreciated...

Thanks.

Give us an idea of what your side of the picture looks like. What type of Cisco hardware? LAN/WAN? What's between the FXS port and the PSTN? What type of PSTN connectivity? IOS and software/firmware version? What's being used: Cisco Fax Relay/T.38 Relay/Fax Passthrough/Modem Passthrough/Modem Relay?

Hi Jonathan,

Sorry for the late response, here is our setup:

CCM 8.6 Publisher and Subscriber

CUC 8.6 x 2 for redundency

VG224 x 18 for analog / for patient rooms and fax machines, configured mgcp

We have a redundant PRI T1 coming in from Windstream.

I have a log from our 2 2901 routers that act as our voice gateways.

I have also wondered should we be using t.38 relay?

Thanks for your help and let me know if you need any other info.

Any body?

~Ray

Hey Ray,

From what you described here is the call flow, correct me if i am wrong:

Call flow:

Faxmachine>>>FXS>>MGCP>>>CUCM>>>H323>>>GW>>PRI>>>PSTN

Fax protocol:

modem passthrough nse based.

Question's:

1>  Are voice calls possible from site where you are trying to send fax from?

Can attach the following show commands:

show tech (from vg224 & voice GW)

Let me know the same.

Regards,

Kevin
