Dear all,
we have upgraded our 3000+ 7970's Phones to the latest 8.4.1SR1 Firmware.
Since this time we have had multiple complaints of Users that the screen is now very difficult to read.
I have attached 2 screenshot's were hopefully the problem is clearer to see.
It seems the font now has shadow and "bleeds" into the background picture.
The example Photo with the large glass building is photographed in a way that the sky is visible. In case of a Voice Mail as the envelope is white it is very hard to see.
The 2nd attached photo also shows the now larger Dialog box when dialling 12.
The white in the screenshot is not true to the actual white that is displayed on the Phone screen.
Changing the brightness or the viewing angle does not really sort the problem.
The 2nd issue with this firmware is that all headset's used within the company now have to be readjusted in order to not have an echo. This was not the case with the previousely used Firmware 8.3.x
Any hints ?

Hy Steffen,
there was an update off the Phone Screen Appearance in 8.4(1) you can read it here
The update was for all 3rd Gen Phones.

Hello Floh,
I am well aware of the new design but unfortunately it seems now to be affected more by the usual background image we used on all previous Versions.
It looks OK on the screenshots but is no longer clear on the phone itself.

We are just about to migrate from CCM 5.1 to 6.1 and have also upgraded out 7970 firmware to 8.4.1SR1 in advance.
User feedback is exactly the same as Steffen describes - they don't like the shading and headsets sound like they are in a tunnel !!
Does anyone have any idea's ??

We just have found another Issue with this firmware when using DTMF.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Steffen - can you advise what issue you are having with DTMF? Thanks

We used to run 8-3-4SR1S on our CCM 4.1(3)SR8
Since we upgraded to 8.41SR1 around 50% of calls into for example external conference bridge fails.
Flashing back works OK
Apart from this the colour schema has changed in the missed calls and overall user complain about the screen.
It helps to adjust the viewing angle but to explain this to 3000+ users is putting a strain on us as engineers.
Also we have around 1000 wireless headset's that need to be manually adjusted as their volume level has now changed in the new FW.

Just found another error.
We use Extension mobility onsite. All phones have a calling search space on the device level that gives them unlimited access.
On the line level we restrict this via an new CSS that basically locks up the phones for no calls possible. This includes internal calls too.
Since the new firmware the CSS on the line level is ignored and all calls including 0900 calls are possible.
Downgrading to 8.3.5SR1S and the CSS is followed correctly.

Hey we are also experiancing the DTMF issue with CCM 4.13 SR7. It seems to be totally random, but users compain if they call their bank or our conference servers they are getting invalid inputs. We are seeing this mostly from 7941s using 8-4-1S, Im going to try 8-4-1SR1S and hope its better...

We are on 8.4.1SR1 and we have the issue.

Just an update,
when the phone is on hook (Handset is not picked up) the new Firmware (8.4.1SR1) ignores the CallingSearchSpace on the line level.
DTMF works ok so far tested when on hook.
When the Phone is off hook or speaker on the phone will follow the CallingSearchSpace as previosely.
DTMF failed most times off hook and on Handset.

Steffen,
Did you get any feedback regarding the headset echo issue ?
We adjusted our cordless headsets and they seem OK but still have issues with corded headsets (plantronics H251)

Apologize for not replying,
we had GN Nordcom in our office last sunday swapping around 900 cordless headset batteries due an recent report that the "old" ones might catch light.
We downgraded the day before to 8.3.4SR1 so have no issues at present with the headset's as we had to reset most of them after the GN Nordcom swap.
Cisco is still investigating the other issues we have reported. They have admitted that they also have encountered issues with headset's using 8.4.1SR1.
I shall keep you updated
Steffen
