Hi all,

I need help to configure CISCO2901/K9 for telephone service.

right now my office has subscribed a new internet plan with telephone service.

so I need to configure all cisco IP phone to get the calls from 1 line.

i'm also not sure what connection need to use. because I'm familiar to setup voice with internet router.

so I'm planning to setup using this connection:

modem>ISP Router>CISCO2901>WS-C2960>4xunit Cisco IP Phone 7960

right telephone is connected at the modem at TEL PORT 1.

so my question is, how to configure 2901 as voice router and is it possible using that above connection?

2901 got CME license. i think it possible, but i dont know how to setup this.

Please advise for other workarounds.

Hello Hafiz,
Please note that 2900 Series ISR are EOL (End-Of-Life) so you will not have support (check link below)
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/2900-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/eos-eol-notice-c51-737831.html

In any case, you may have a look on the following reference of Call Manager Express to gain some understanding on the basic configuration.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-express/211270-Basic-Configuration-Guide-for-CUCME-CME.pdf

Commands may vary, based on the IOS version you are running on your Router.

Hope this helps,
George

I would suggest you check out the different kinds of documentation about how to configure CME, Provider connections and so on. There are probably also hundreds of forum post about these topics.

The forum isn't here to do your work and present you a complete / working config or being a teaching platform. It's here to answer specific questions to specific problems.

Also: ISR 29xx routers are already End-of-everything. So you are on a non-supported hardware.

Strictly not actually end of life / end of support until the end of this year.

@TONY SMITH Of course you are right, my wording was not correct, wanted to point out that soon this will be EOL, so thats why I included the link
