Good morning everyone,
I have BE(6000)

EVM-HD-8FXS/DID High density voice/fax extension module - 8 FXS/DID 1
EM-4BRI-NT/TE 4-port voice/fax expansion module - BRI (NT and TE) 1
VIC2-4FXO Four-port Voice Interface Card - FXO (Universal) 4

I need to configure fax , i do some research about it but i don't find an example about how to use the 8 FXS (High-Density Extension Module)  , when i do show run on the router i just found  my  4 BRI inteface and 16 FXO !!!  Can someone give me clarification about it, maybe there is something that escapes me.

Hi,

The module is detected and you are having SM-NM-ADPTR which is a prerequisite. However, PVDM3-16 seems to be low compared to the number of analog ports and BRI channels running on the router.

Can you please enable console logging, connect through console and reload the router. Then share the console logs and lets see what is happening when the router reboots.

Additionally, please share the output of show diag

Hi there,

Mohammed is most correct in his assessment of the lack of DSP resources here (+5) If you use the DSP calculator at this link you will see you need a much higher DSP count;

http://www.cisco.com/web/applicat/dsprecal/dsp_calc.html

I did a quick calculation based on your needs and it showed these results (need 1- PVDM3-64);

Router: 2911
IOS: 15.1(4)M
DSP Modules Required:
PVDM3-64: 1

Rob, Thx for taking the step to do the calculations of DSP requirement

Actually I noticed the dsp resource problems, how can I resolve this problem ? any suggestions please .

You need to buy additional DSPs. As Rob highlighted based on his calculations you need at least PVDM3-64. However, you use the online calc provide by Rob if you want more granular calculations based on your requirement.

This is a hardware limitation which can't be overcomed. You can't use all cards with the current DSP module
