How many calls handle by CUBE gateway

Sanjay Bishnoi

Hello,

I have one Cube gateway with 25 license but here is the question...how many calls will be delivered or connected in this scenario.

Thanks

Hi Sanjay,

CUBE is a paper-based honor license (no file to install) that allows you to run the CUBE RTU (Right-to-Use) feature set after you have the UCK9 license installed.

So ideally if you are continually exceeding 25 then you should buy more licences, but the exact capability again falls to hardware capability as of now.

Does that make sense?

Hi sanjay,

Licences for CUBE are honor based so they is not hard limit to the call, the only limit is the hardware limit for the platform you are using.

* These Router platforms support NANOCUBE licensing (refer to section “CUBE Licensing Options”).

** Maximum trunk sessions mentioned are for simple trunk calls (seven messages per leg) and it may vary depending on call and message rate.

** Maximum sessions assumes that only the specified session is configured. Simultaneous use of other CUBE session types will reduce session maxima one for one.

Is CUBE Licensing enforced?

No, CUBE is a paper-based honor license (no file to install) that allows you to run the CUBE RTU (Right-to-Use) feature set after you have the UCK9 license installed.

Hello jitender,

Thanks for update......

as per my understanding if we have 25 cube session license then 25 SIP trunk will be in progress.

but in my scenerion 60 calls will be travel in a time so once 25 calls are initiated then 25 SIP session will be occupied unless until RTP is generated.  once RTP is generated SIP session will be released...

please make me correct...

Hi Sanjay,

Ques 1) as per my understanding if we have 25 cube session license then 25 SIP trunk will be in progress.

Ans 1) Above is not correct, 25 cube session license does not means 25 SIP trunk will be in progress. It is just an number, the real number you would be concerned about is "Maximum SIP Trunk Sessions" which i have explained above in my 2nd post.

Ques 2) but in my scenerion 60 calls will be travel in a time so once 25 calls are initiated then 25 SIP session will be occupied unless until RTP is generated.  once RTP is generated SIP session will be released..

Ans 2) No the way Cube work, see most to for detail regarding different platform.

Hello Jitender,

thanks for update,

could you please give the answer for my second question as this is important to me.

once I took up the call then RTP will be generate...in this scenerio ..what happend CUBE will relaese SIP session to initiate  another call or still its occupied current SIP seesion ?

Hi Sanjay,

So once the call is established RTP would start flowing correct, but that does not mean it will free the SIP session. CUBE will only free the SIP session when the call is terminated.

Does that answer your question.

JB

Yes ...but I am little bit confusing that I have 25 Cube license and I have seen 35 calls active on my cube gateway .

Can you get it out ?

Hi Sanjay,

don't get confused with  25 Cube license is all i am trying to explain that is just a number, if you really want to know how many SIP session you CUBE will support look at the link below.

JB

Hi Sanjay,

Do you understand now how SIP sessions are calculated or still have any doubts.

JB

Hi Jitende,

thanks for update

i have read your provided document & pls let me clear one thing..as 30-40 calls would be delivered on gateway at a time so 25 license enaugh to take all calls or i need to purchase more license

thanks

You should buy more licenses. If you have 25 session lic then you should allow only 25 simultaneous calls on cube router, although there is no restriction but if you allow more number of calls ((depends on hardware capacity as well)) than license count, its means you are violating agreement with Cisco.

As, CUBE is a paper-based honor license (no file to install) that allows you to run the CUBE Right-to-Use feature set after you have the UCK9 license installed.

A session is a single audio or a video call across the CUBE, regardless of call legs. Some vendors consider one call as two sessions. You may refer below document.

Suresh

Hello Suresh,

So, if the router has FL-CUBE-25 license and in future if I wanted to put 50 concurrent CUBE call sessions, do I have to purchase FL-CUBE-50 instead of buying one additional FL-CUBE-25 to add 25 sessions on top of existing FL-CUBE-25 ?

Thanks

You can just buy additional  FL-CUBE-25 license
