Hi all,

Any ideas on how to register LinPhone to CUCM?

I've been going through the web for the past couple of days trying to find out but have not found any suitable tutorial or explanation?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I am afraid it does not.

Take a look at this: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/ipv6/ipv6srnd.html Chapter 15:

No software-based endpoints support IPv6

Third-party IPv6-capable phones are not supported

If you mean cisco.com, this is all we have:

Non-Cisco SIP phones setup

Hi,

what's wrong with Jitsi?

Anyway, Linphone works perfectly just fine with CUCM.

Create an end user, where the user ID = the extension of your SIP phone. For instance, 5000. Fill in the "Digest credentials". For instance, "digest".

Create a new "Third party SIP Device (Basic)". Don't forget to set the correct Device Pool, Calling Search Space etc; but most importantly, the "Owner User ID" and the "Digest User" = our new user. In this example, 5000.

Create/Assign an extension to this new device, with the desired number, again, in this example, 5000. Again, the most important thing here is the "User Associated with this Line" at the bottom of the page. It'll be our new user.

And then voila:

greg@appserver0:~$ linphonec

Ready

Warning: video is disabled in linphonec, use -V or -C or -D to enable.

linphonec> register sip:5000@192.168.210.11 sip:192.168.210.11 digest

linphonec> Registration on sip:192.168.210.11 successful.

linphonec> Call 2 with "HQ Phone 1" <2001> connected.

linphonec> Media streams established with "HQ Phone 1" <2001> for call 2.

linphonec> Call 2 with "HQ Phone 1" <2001> ended (No error).

linphonec> quit

Terminating...

Or, if you prefer the GTK client:

... and, of course:

You can play around with the settings in ~/.linphonerc

Thanks for your reply G.

Well, I have done all the above steps already but nothing is happening.

The reason I have chosen Linphone is that its meant to support IPv6.

I'm trying to run an IPv6 VoIP netowork here in the lab.

Doing all the above steps, using IPv6 does not work.

Any ideas?

thanks

G,

I managed to make Jitsi register to CUCM. Thanks for the tip. Still can't get Linphone.

Another thing. As I'm trying to get my IPv6 VoIP network to work. When I try to register Jitsi to CUCM using the CUCM IPv6 address it does not work.

If I open wireshark and look at the packets, I can see that the host machine is sending sip registration request to CUCM, but I'm not receiving anything back.

I can ping the CUCM IPv6 interface and receive echo reply with no problems.

Does CUCM accepts registration on its IPv6 address?

Thanks again

G.

Any chance you can share with us how you registered Jitsi to CUCM? I tried but no luck

Hi,

well yes, certainly.

In CUCM:

Create a new user. For instance, "jitsi".

Make sure you set the Digest Credentials on the End User page. For instance, "jitsidigest".

Create a new Third Party SIP Device (both Basic and Advanced should work). You can enter a dummy MAC address, for instance, "DEADBEEF0001". Make sure you set the Digest User to the End User created before (in our example, "jitsi").

Add a Directory Number (DN) to this Device, for instance, 7001. Associate this DN with the End User.

Jitsi:

Add a new SIP Account. Fill in the SIP ID according to the following pattern: @. You can use the the CUCM's IP address instead of the domain as well. For instance, 7001@192.168.210.11.

For the password, enter the Digest Credential set on the CUCM ("jitsidigest").

Click Advanced, then on the Connection tab, enter the user ID in the Authorization name field ("jitsi").

Now, click the Next and then the Sign in button and you should be registered.

G.

Hello Geovani,

would you mind to share how did you manage to make Jitsi register on CUCM ?

Thanks a lot,
