How to show all phones firmware on a report

Hello,

We need help, I have call manager 8.0.3 and we need away to show all of the phones firmware in a report or can easily view without going into every phone and see there firmware.  We tried RTMT which shows you that but only can show 200 phones firmware and we have more than 200 phones. We can use the switches thru cdp neighbor but that takes to long. We tried the bulk adminisrator to export that information but that didnt work. We thought of using ssh into call manager server but we dont know if that will show the phones firmware.  There has to be away to view all of the phones firmware in one place.

Please help us.

Thanks.

Hi Horacio,

If you're running Cisco Operation Manager is possible to export that information. There's a third party application (need to buy license) that is able to do it but I really no remember the name at the moment...

Hi Horacio,

You can get this confirmed from UPLINX Software. They have tool called Phone Inventory Tool which could solve your problem.

http://www.uplinx.com/phoneinventory.htm

Features

Phone model, MAC, switch name and port to which the phone connects, IP, hardware and software versions

Serial number (for Cisco SmartNet renewals)

Device name, first extension and line text

Support for international locale

Besides third party tools doesn't call manager 8 have something to use for phone firmware update?

Hi Horacio,

What u can do is you can go to Call Manager  Administartion page-- Device---Device setings -Firmware load information.

From here u can find the firmware for respective phone models.that are not working at Defeult image

regds,

aman

Hi Aman,

Once you go to Call Manager  Administartion page-- Device---Device setings -Firmware load information is there a way to export that information?  I looked under the BULK tool and was unable to find a way to perform this task.  Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Diana

using Firmware Load Information not show you the real firmware load into the phone.  this only show you:

1) if in telephone itself the "text box Phone Load Name" are set with customize firmware, will report this phone as "Device Not Using Default Load".

so this report is related how CUCM is configured.

Sometimes phones have diferent firmware because error in load TFTP firmware because compatibility upgrade from factory version and new firmware set it in CUCM.

some one know thirdparty software with free license?.

11.x has a new feature called device load management for just that scenario:

This page allows deletion of selected unused device loads on this server for most endpoint models. Unused device loads must be deleted separately for each server in the cluster.

java

if this helps, please rate

For version earlier than 11.x, you can do the following:

1. From CUCM CLI, enter the following command

show risdb query list phone file #file_name#

2. copy this file to your SFTP server

file get activelog /platform/cli/#file_name#.txt

3. Rename the file from .txt to .csv.

Once you open the CSV file, you will find a column called ActiveLoadID which list the active_load in all the registered phones in the file.

Thanks Mohammed

Those commands still hold true for Call Manager 11.0. Just remember to run them on the subscribers where the phones are registered and not necessarily the publisher.

I've just wasted half an afternoon figuring that out. What is worse is I've been doing this long enough to have known better and the result backups up what the device settings - firmware load information had already told me.

Best

Rich

thanks for sharing the new feature[+5]

regds,

aman

Could also try this if you’re using CUCM ver 9+

Will give you an audit/inventory of the phone's and lines configuration on the CUCM as well as the Firmware, MAC and Serial of the phones .. free is well :-)

Go to the ssh cli, and enter: "show version active".

You 'll get a list of all non-default firmwares loaded.
