identify analog extension by calling ####

We have a device that's configured on our Nortel PBX that when we call the number configured it will tell us what number we're calling from. It works for Nortel and Cisco phones.

We hope the Nortel PBX will go away but would like to configure the same functionality on our Cisco phone system.

Is there a feature that would give us the same functionality?

What might this feature be called?

If you want to achieve this with Cisco infrastructure you need to create a script in Contact Centre Express which reads up the calling number back to the caller and send the call to it.

If I get this right, this is a number you call, and then I assume some sort of IVR tells you: you're calling from number xxxx?

If that is correct, nothing in CUCM will do that, there is no such feature.

If not, you'll probably want to explain further how this currently works.

If the objective is to find out what is the extension number, what happens if you call a phone near you?  Is your extension number displayed?

Most phones I have seen have the phone number display prominently on the phone's display.  Is your phone configured the same way or differently?

I call my cell/mobile phone and it will display the CID (if it is enabled &/or configured correctly/properly).

And depending what country you are, there are facilities (example 07 7127 1203 from anywhere in Australia) that can read back your CID.

If you want to achieve this with Cisco infrastructure you need to create a script in Contact Centre Express which reads up the calling number back to the caller and send the call to it.
