Install second subscriber in a production cluster

Hi,

My company has a production call manager cluster running on 2xUCS C200M2 server. As the company grows, we are looking to purchase and install second subcriber to be part of the existing cluster. I have some questions:

1. C200 server is end of sale. if we buy C220M3, would it have any compatibility issue with existing enviornment

2. Do we need to buy extra CUCM related service with the hardware, such as vmware and UC

3. If we install the UC on the new hardware as a new subscriber, would it overwrite existing configuration on the production servers, i.e. publisher and first subscriber. any one has a guide how to add a new subscriber?

Please mention the UCM version you are using in your environment, it helps in providing a more accurate answer :-)

1>     If you are referring to compatibility for your existing UCM environment, then, I dont see any issues. Here are a few links you should go through:

It's best to talk to your Cisco Accounts team to help ensure there are no compatibility issues.

2>     From UCM perspective, you simply need to make sure that there is an unused Node license for you to be able to add another Subscriber to that UCM cluster. You can check this by going to the Publisher GUI admin page --> System --> Licensing --> License Unit Report. Again, I would advise you to contact your Cisco Accounts team for further clarity on this.

3>     Adding a new Subscriber to an existing cluster would not overwrite existing config. Here is a link for UCM 8.5.1 to add a new Subscriber:

Server hardware does not have to be the same in a cluster. You just have to be aware of the different capacities of the different servers.

You do need VMWare, though: You can't install (or aren't supported) installing any Cisco product direct onto UCS.
