Hi!
We cannot use IP Communicator (last release of course) with some new Dell Latitude laptops, because it doesn't recognize the Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec. The Ip Communicator says that no audio card is installed and closes and I can do nothing.
Has anyone fixed this problem?
Thanks
Thanks

There seems to be a problem with the built in finger print scanner and this stuff (we think at least) If we remove the finger print scanner software IP Communicator and CUPS seems to work fine.
Also try at Dell's website for the newest audio drivers for the Sigmatel and also BIOS updates.
If all else fails, remove the security software that controls the finger print scanner. That did the trick for me.

Thanks, but we don't use finger print scanner.
The problem seems to be known to the TAC (CSCsi60871 Too much long name of audio devices with Windows Vista) but I don't understand the workaround: to use shorter names for devices.
I don't name my computer devices!!!!
