IP Phone 7911 old firmware stucked

Hello all,

We have several 7911 IP phones that load term06 or term11 and load files with version 8-3-2-27 that I think is version SCCP 8.8.3, right?

I've forced on UCM to load version SCCP8.3.3S but it doesn't upgrade.

The only thing I've seen is on the IP phone itself, under Status messages states the following:

     Error updating locale

     No CTL installed

     File Not Found: CTLFile.tlv

I've also tried to force loading version SCCP8.5.2 so that we can upgrade to version 9.2.3S, but same thing happens.

I've also tried restoring to factory defaults loading the phone pressing # key and then typeing 123456789*0# but still gets what looks like version 8.3.3.

Any ideas of how can I upgrade those IP phones? I've got versions 8.3.3S, 8.5.2S and 9.2.3S loaded on our UCM servers from long time ago.

8.5.2 should load fine, if it doesn't then you have a different problem with CUCM.

Actually it was quite weird as other 7911 were upgrading correctly.

I found out how to solve it. This is how I made it:

1. Connecting the IP phone and letting it register
2. Once registered, on UCM go to Device - Phone and select that phone
3. Edit the Line (Directory Number)
4. Change the following items (all related with line names):
   1. Description
   2. Alerting name
   3. ASCII Alerting name
   4. Display (Internal caller ID)
   5. ASCII
   6. Display (Internal caller ID)
   7. Line Text Label
   8. ASCII Line Text Label
5. Clic on Save
6. That automatically reloads the IP Phone and it upgrades correctly to the version (forced or not) that needs to be.

I cannot explain why this happened or why this solves it, but that's how I made it.
