Some Cisco phone are sending a DHCP release when renewing the DHCP lease.
In some cases the phone reboots with a new IP. The DHCP server is a Cisco switch.
Any reason of sending a DHCP release when renewing the lease?
Some phones are sending
NOT 15:33:34.143190 DHCP: Restart - delay = 0
NOT 15:33:34.153097 DHCP: Sending Release...
NOT 15:33:34.177169 DHCP: dhcpSendReq: status 0x12300000
NOT 15:33:34.178046 DHCP: Sending Request...
NOT 15:33:34.182268 DHCP: ACK received
NOT 15:33:34.183061 DHCP: Succeeded
Thanks

Is it just one model of phone that has the problem?
If so, have you tried upgrading the firmware?
If not, what are the lease times etc configured on your DHCP server? Do you have multiple DHCP servers?

Hello,
I have 7911, 7941 and 7970 that are doing this.
The lease time is 24 hours. I am running the firmaware 8.4.2S. This was running since many months.
After an upgrade of the CUCM, the problem started.
This is only few phones that are doing this.
Thanks

Are you running DHCP on your CUCM server? Otherwise if the phone firmware hasn't changed a CUCM upgrade wouldn't affect DHCP at all.
Is it causing any user visible issues?

Hello,
We are using IOS dhcp server. I notoced that only the phone with Odd Ip address are having the problem and are sending a dhcp release when renewing. The main problem I have is that phone some phones are rebooting while in call.
Thanks

OK - so as Leosalcie suggested above I would try upgrading the firmware. Could be something like CSCtc02741...
