Is the License Count Utility necessary when migrating from CUCM 8.6.x to 11.x?

Hi everyone,

If I am able to calculate the number of UCLs I need when migrating from DLUs to UCLs, is it enough to create a request via PLM and send the request to Cisco without a report from the License Count Utility?

Hi ,

You need to share the PLM along with LCU to licensing team to be used for migration.

Alright, thanks Aman.

Is it possible to run the LCU on a subscriber  rather than a Publisher? Does the Publisher have to be operational for the LCU to work with the subscriber?

Hi,

You need to have Publisher UP while running LCU since licenses are loaded on Publisher.

Add Unified CM server

You must add the Cisco Unified Communications Manager server to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager License Count Utility inventory before you can request a license report.

Before you begin
  • Verify that the Unified CM server is installed and configured correctly.
  • You have configured an administrator user on the Unified CM server.
Procedure
Step 1   Click Add in the Clusters tab.

The Add Cisco Unified CM Server dialog box appears.

Step 2   Enter the information described in the table below.
    Field Description
    Host Name/IP Address

The host name or the IP address of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager server.

    Note

In a Unified CM cluster, you must add only the publisher node in the License Count Utility application.

    User Name

The user name of the administrator of the Unified CM server.

    Password

    Password for the administrator.

    Description (Optional)

A short description of the Unified CM server.
