I am in need to replace my Cisco 2821 router and called a vendor. I informed the vendor that the router has to have the ability to connect our PRI line for voice. Well I received a router with only 1 NIM-1CE1T1-PRI card. When I tried to configure the router for voice, I received a bunch errors telling me that I do not have a voice card.

So the questions is this.....If I attach a PVDM Card to this NIM module. Will it convert that card to a voice card?

On isr 4K we can install pvdm on nim and motherboard. If you are using T1/E1 card you need to install the pvdm on nim card. If not installed you cannot configure voice ports. Motherboard dsp will be used for conferencing mtp etc.. 

if tou have dsp on motherboard you can remove it and place it on nim . But you need to be careful. Or you can take the support of vendor who supplied it.

Besides the placement of the PVDM, the card you have can be configured as a T1 or E1, did you set it to what you’d want to use in IOS prior to configure the rest of the voice parts? You’d also want to check that your licensed for voice as the 4K gateways have one shared version of IOS and you enable functionality in it via licensing.
