Guys,
I've been asked to bring a site up that, over the next 4-5 months, will handle a fairly heavy call volume. Is there any way I can limit the amount of concurrent calls to one DN? I don't want their number to overwhelm the rest of the system.
This DN will be pointing to a Unity call handler to distribute the calls.
Call Manager 8.5
Unity Connection 8.5
Gateways are MGCP with 3 bonded PRI T1s
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Assuming you have SCCP VM integration, the only issue I see with this is wasted voicemail ports, since they are licensed resources, you cannot share them for other calls. If you feel you have more than you need then you are OK.

Hi Gareth,
You can limit the number call by Maximum number calls setting in the Route point DN page.

Gnan.

Gnan,
That would work if I wasn't sending it over to Unity Connection to a call handler. Sadly, that's the way that they wand this to go.

Gareth,
If you could persuade others move the MGCP gateways to H323 (or SIP)
You can control the number of calls hitting VOIP dial peers etc
Something like this :-
!
dial-peer voice 1000 voip
description *** CUC CALL HANDLER PEER DN 1000 ***
preference 1
destination-pattern 1000
max-conn 50
voice-class codec 1
voice-class h323 1
session target ipv4:172.16.172.172
incoming called-number .
dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
ip qos dscp cs3 signaling
no vad
!
So that would yield 50 simultaneous calls with caller 51 hearing busy tone
MGCP is OK but it is not as granular as H323 or SIP

Thanks for the replies!
Just wanted to let you know that I've resolved it by cheating a little bit.
I went ahead and created a new voice profile with a limited amount of voice ports (since it's being pushed to a call handler).
Anyone think of any problems with this?

Chris,
I have plenty of licensed vm ports available. Not sure why we have as many as we do, to be honest!
Thanks for your reply.

I have the same issue that I need to limit calls to a number, but they want it set at 18 in the day time and 5 at night. Is there a way to do it by time? either MGCP or H323. Or is this were a "time Period" would come in on CUCM.
Thanks

CUCM has no way to do this at all.
You would need to do this via TCL scripting on H323
HTH
java
