MGCP Endpoint shows unregistered until controllers are restarted

Hello,

I manage a cluster with eight subscribers in several locations.

I have an issue with one of the locations. From time to time, the MGCP endpoints show unregistered on the CUCM but is registered when checked on the router. This is usually resolved when i do shut and no shut under the controller E1.

The is happening at least every 48 hours.

OUTPUT of show isdn status:

dsl 1, interface ISDN Switchtype = primary-qsig
**** Slave side configuration ****
L2 Protocol = Q.921 0x0000 L3 Protocol(s) = CCM MANAGER 0x0003
Layer 1 Status:
ACTIVE
Layer 2 Status:
TEI = 0, Ces = 1, SAPI = 0, State = MULTIPLE_FRAME_ESTABLISHED
Layer 3 Status:
0 Active Layer 3 Call(s)
Active dsl 1 CCBs = 0
The Free Channel Mask: 0xFFFF7FFF
Number of L2 Discards = 1, L2 Session ID = 125
Total Allocated ISDN CCBs = 0

MGCP is pretty old school and still has some valid uses. You could convert the gateway to sip to cucm and see if that clears up the lack of registration issue as sip is not a layer 3 back haul to cucm.

With that being said... what does a show ccm-manager show on the gateway before you shut no shut?

Are you seeing slips or errrors with a show controller?

Also probably time to start your mgcp debugs and see why the connection is dropping or becoming not registered.

the show ccm-managed command is the first step is it actually dropping on the router side or is it a visibility thing from the risdb standpoint

Hi

Please check domain and hostname should be same on mgcp router and gateway and verify mgcp bind interface is correct ?

Verify configuration as well as.

Hello @sandip.khandekar

Thanks for your response. The configuration seems fine. It works for over 24 hours (sometimes more) before showing unregistered.

Thanks for your response @Gregory Brunn .

Its a pretty large cluster. We have eight subscribers and running in eleven cities. Some of the locations don't have subscribers. The move to SIP will require a lot of management authorization but I'll definitely start up that discussion.

Also below are the outputs of the show ccm-manager, show controllers and show controllers E1:  I took them while the endpoints were unregistered.

So yeah your node is showing registered on the gateway side and you have slips.

Please check your clocking commands.

Clear your counters on the T1 and ensure the slips come back.

I'll check this and give you feedback.

Thanks
