Migrating from PRI lines to SIP Trunk for PSTN connectivity

Hi,

We are planning to migrate from T1/E1 PRI lines (currently using MGCP) to SIP Trunk for PSTN. Had couple of doubts on it. CUCM version is 12.5 with TLS1.2 enabled.

1) By default does Cisco 39XX, 43XX & 44XX routers have 10 CUBE licenses ?? can we use these licenses or should we have to buy ??

2) Considering we are using only G.711 codec across the cluster, should we have to buy PVDM ?? not sure if PVDMs are required if use SIP Connections ??

3) Configuration on voice gateways and on cucm .. step by step for better understanding .. Pls??

Please suggest.

Regards

Jagadish G

ISR  3.9K  used to come with 10 CUBE  license. But ISR 4k, AFAIK no. you need to add it Cube license.

As JAVA mentioned, it depends on your deployment.

If your CUBE came with licenses, yes, you can use them, if you will need more licenses than what the bundle came with, you'll have to buy the difference.

Use of PVDMs will depend on your particular scenario, they're not mandatory.

There's already documentation available online that shows configuration for CUCM and CUBE, whole guides dedicated to CUBE configuration, plenty of Cisco Live Sessions dedicated to CUBE, plenty of threads on the same topic at CSC, etc. A little bit of effort on google will provide you with a plethora of resources for you to review.

Hi Jagadish

As for question #2, PVDM is usually not required since most providers can accept G.711. I recommend you get in touch with your SIP provider in order to confirm if it is accepted though - and this is true to check for their other requirements.

Cheers
