Migrating to T1 PRI

Hi,

I have a client that is using a group of 12 Voice FXO interfaces and 2 Voice FXS interfaces for their PSTN connection using a 2850 router. It is configured as follows:

trunk group FXO-GROUP
hunt-scheme longest-idle

trunk group DID-GROUP

voice-port 0/0/0
trunk-group DID-GROUP
signal did immediate
!
voice-port 0/0/1
trunk-group DID-GROUP
signal did immediate
!
voice-port 0/1/0
trunk-group FXO-GROUP
connection plar opx 7200
caller-id enable
!
voice-port 0/1/1
trunk-group FXO-GROUP
connection plar opx 7200
caller-id enable
!
voice-port 0/1/2
trunk-group FXO-GROUP
connection plar opx 7200
caller-id enable
!

dial-peer voice 911 pots
trunkgroup FXO-GROUP
description **X11 Calls**
destination-pattern [89][469]11
forward-digits 3
!
dial-peer voice 11 pots
trunkgroup FXO-GROUP
description **Long Distance Calls**
destination-pattern 91[2-9]..[2-9]......
forward-digits 11
!
dial-peer voice 1 pots
trunkgroup FXO-GROUP
description **International Calls**
destination-pattern 90T
prefix 0
!

dial-peer voice 3200 pots
trunkgroup DID-GROUP
description **Incoming Calls from Analog DID**
incoming called-number 32
direct-inward-dial
!

I omitted the H.323 config which connects the router to the CUCM because that isn't necessary. I am working on the connection between the router PRI to the PSTN and some FXO ports.

I assume the trunk group FXO-GROUP defines those ports as the connection to the PSTN and the DID-GROUP is the connection to the analog phones. I am trying to understand what "connection plar opx 7200" means.

They are moving to a T1 PRI connection and I am wondering how the configuration would look. In the new router (2951) they will also have a 4 port FXO card that they want to use for analog phones and as a secondary PSTN connection if the PRI is down.

How would this configuration look?

Thanks,

Waqas

You can always google: cisco command reference + < command >

to get the usage info.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice/h323/14368-plar-config.html

That commands simply tells the port to send the call to 7200.

There's plenty of examples on H.323 and MGCP if you google: cisco pri < protocol >

https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12231781/how-configure-h323-pri-and-gateway-cucm-10x

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice/media-gateway-control-protocol-mgcp/23966-mgcp-pri-cm.html

Redundancy will depend on the protocol.

Thanks Jaime,

The CUCM won't be handling the PRI to FXO failover. That is going to be configured on the router, I'm not sure if that's even possible but the client requested it.

SRST is also going to be configured in case the CUCM is unavailable.

Would it be possible to use 2 trunk groups with different priorities in the dial peer to have a failover?
