Migration of DNs from CCM to CUCM (Loop Prevention)

Hi,

It might be a stupid question, but is there any way to "seamlessly and gradually" migrate phones from an old CCM 4.2 to a new CUCM 10.5 without using prefixes or creating loops. The idea is not to change DNs while moving phones to the new CUCM so that users could call each other by using their original numbers in spite of being registered to different CMs. Please take a look at the attached picture for details. What is the best practice for this kind of scenario? Thanks.

Yes, just configure the route pattern with wildcards that would fix in your dial plan, and delete the devices from the old cluster, as soon as they're ready on the new one.

Best match routing will take care of sending the calls over the ICT as the DN will have no better match.

Hi, Jaime

I guess this is the only way to do that: take 10 phones, move them to the new CUCM, create a route pattern 10[0-9] etc. Thanks for the help.

Yes, that would be an example, it depends on your dial plan how to configure the route patterns so they're the best match for DNs you delete from the old server.
