MoH on CME doesn't work

Dear NetPro gurus,

One of my customers has configured a brand new CME on Cisco 3945, while all Cisco Phones are locally attached to the same LAN.

The problem is that when one Cisco phone puts another "on-hold", all the caller hears is the "du du du" rather than hearing the Music On Hold file being played.

As per the attached screen capture and show run, the music-on-hold.au file is at the CME's flash.

Also, under telephony-service, it is pointing to the right file:

telephony-service

    moh "music-on-hold.au"

Just couldn't figured out why the Music On Hold file is not working.

Would greatly appreciated if anyone can shed some light on this.

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Lee,

I see that you have double quotes around the moh file name, please change that to

moh music-on-hold.au

Also you need to have this command added to get MOH to work, even if it's CME (quite odd I know ).

ccm-manager music-on-hold

According to this document you also need to add the command to enable multicast moh, that is the default for the CME phones.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmemoh.html#wp1010372

That is done with this command, I've updated it with your IP addresses.

multicast moh 239.1.1.1 port 16384 route 10.69.50.254 10.69.255.6

You can check if the file for MOH is cached with the show ephone moh command, see mor at this URL,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmemoh.html#wp1026994

Dear the same issue is With CUCM 8.6 after 3 tone nothing happend please advice me.

CUCM is working on VM Wear. kand file uploaded.

Hi khalid,

Even if a bit off topic take a look at this URL for how to troubleshoot MOH,

http://voiceonbits.com/2010/06/29/moh-issues-and-resolution/

It´s for multicast MOH sourced from the flash of the VGW, but the overall theory is the same for MOH from CUCM.

hi,

any update regarding this issue, I couldn't solve the problem of the quotation or save the command on ephone multicast-moh

Hi Roger,

The interesting thing is i didn't "double quote" them in purpose.

When i put moh music-on-hold.au command on the CME Voice Gateway, it automatically double quote them for me.  And I can't figure out a way to take them off.

Any ideas??

Cheers,

Hunt

Hi guys

Ensure that the file on the flash is named as music-on-hold.au, also the WAV file have the recommended format for audio source files includes the following specifications:

16-bit PCM wav file

Stereo or mono

Sample rates of 48 kHz, 32 kHz, 16 kHz, or 8 kHz

Then try:

CME(config)# telephony-service

CME(config-telephony)#no moh "music-on-hold.au"

CME(config-telephony)# moh flash:music-on-hold.au

CME(config-telephony)# no create cnf-files

CME(config-telephony)#create cnf-files

After that reset the phones, let me know if it´s working
