MS Lync integration

Hi I`m trying to get an understanding of the ms Lync and cucm with cucilync.

1. CUPS and CUCM

Previously I thought you required a cups server with a SIP trunk to CUCM for CUP`s client so Presence is exchanged between CUCM and CUPS- correct?

2. Now with Lync you still need a CUPS Server and SIP trunk to CUCM and Lync mediation server- Correct? and set up forking

3. CUCiLync - the forking requirement disappears but for telephony presence do you still need a SIP trunk to Lync

4. Going forward today - Do you still need a SIP trunk or as I`ve been told you make use of customised presence status on the Lync Servers. Reading this Customised presence is an xml file held on the users P.C or Lync Server. My question is how is telephony presence now exchanged

thanks

1.     That's correct if you're doing RCC. (I'm running an environment like this today)

2.     Again correct if you want to do RCC or Lync Enterprise voice. I'd highly recommend going the CUBE route though.

3.     CUCiLync does not even require CUPS. All presence information is conveyed via the CUCiLync client to the Lync client.

4.     Not quite sure what you're asking.

More than happy to provide more details as required.

Hope that helps some.
