Mute caused disturbing audible sound for the caller

Hi!

Have another customer with issues. For their remote sites when they go on or off mute, the phone makes a loud beep noice athat is audible by listeners at the other end. Very disturbing. Can not find any general parameters that disables / enables this. Any suggestions?

Can you please specify what type of phone they are using, is this on a callmanager or communications manager express set up, what are the firmware/software versions being used?

Does this problem happen to all phones at that site or only some? Does this happen for internal calls as well or only external calls? Can the user of the phone also hear this?

Also a topology description would be cool.
