your registrar is set as a DNS configuration - registrar dns:cme.telecoms.com, but is cme.telecoms.com reachable or resolvable from the router? It does not look like the SIP request is making it to the carrier.

Hello Mike,

Yes. The registrar dns:cme.telecoms.com is reachable from the router.

#ping cme.telecoms.com
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to XX.XX.XX.XX, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/4 ms

As you can see, the router sends a lot of register messages but not answares are received. could be a nat issue. The router use its private ip 172.16....

Do you nave an other router in front of it? Is SIP nat helper o SIP ALG active?

BR

Hello @Daniele Giordano

Yes. I had an ASA Firewall. That was the device responsible for the NAT. The connection was such as;

SP Modem-->Cisco ASA FW--->Core Switch--->CME

Now, what I have done now is to configure an outside interface for the CME itself.
I did a default route to the internet gateway. Configured an access list to allow the CME interface range access to internet. please find attached the current CME config and "debug ccsip all".

I understand registration is sent out the 172.16.121.5 interface but where does it stop. Now, I expect it to go out through the default GW to the Service Provider SBC but it is still not registering.

Hello @Daniele Giordano

Yes. I had an ASA Firewall. That was my NAT device for all devices on my network. The connection was such as;

SP Modem-->Cisco ASA FW--->Core Switch--->CME

Now, what I have done is to configure an outside interface for the CME itself.
I did a default route to the internet gateway. Configured an access list to allow the CME interface range access to internet. Please find attached the current CME config and "debug ccsip all".

ok great, so the SIP provider is reachable.

As you have an auth and credentials set, can you show the output of the following:

sh sip-ua register status

the reg column should say yes, if not, try to pull the ccsip messages from the registration attempts, not from a call attempt.

You can force a re-registration by removing the line - "registrar dns:cme.telecoms.com" expires 3600, and adding it back in.

Hello @Mike_Brezicky

I have attached the "Show CCSIP message" result. The number meant to register is 01631XXXX. So you may lookout for it. Also, below is some of the output.

Can you please show the output of the following:

sh sip-ua register status

The only thing I see from the ccsip messages is your router continues to retry registration, but the far end is not even sending a response.

Is there a firewall in between that may be blocking port 5060?

Hello Mike,

The output of "show sip-ua register status" has been and is still "no" which is why I am here asking for help here.

Secondly, it was behind a firewall. I removed the config and then connected it directly to ISP and did a NAT. Still the same. Please see attached screenshot

Ok, so is cme.telecoms.com the actual registrar or are you masking it on your config.  Can you check to make sure the carrier information is correct and port 5060 is open.

If cme.telecoms.com is correct, I am resolving it to 212.153.70.31, which does not have port 5060 open.

cme.telecoms.com is not the real domain. Just used it to make the post.

This issue is still unresolved and I am open to solutions.

One of the observations from the packet capture is that my extensions are also sending register request to the SP's SBC which then makes the SP blacklist my IP thereby making subsequent "register" request fail completely. I do not know why this is. I reckon that registration will be successful if i am able to get to the roots of why my extensions are also sending registration requests to the SP's SBC.
